On September 24, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana and the Ministry of Education of Guyana jointly held the Awards Ceremony for the 5th China-Guyana Friendship Youth Leadership Development Competition. Ambassador Yang Yang, Deputy Chief Education Officer Ms. Harvey, award-winning students, teachers and parents, among others, attended the event, with nearly 100 participants in total.

Ambassador Yang warmly congratulated the award winners. She noted that young people are the future of China-Guyana relations, and encouraged the students to take the competition as a new starting point, aim high, develop their skills, and grow into capable contributors to Guyana’s development and young ambassadors of China-Guyana friendship. She said the Chinese Embassy stands ready to continue creating opportunities for young people from both countries to better understand and connect with each other, and welcomed more Guyanese youth to visit China and experience a real, multidimensional and vibrant China for themselves.
Ms. Harvey thanked China for its longstanding support for education and youth development in Guyana. She encouraged the award-winning students to continue setting a positive example and make active contributions to Guyana’s development and China-Guyana relations.
Students and teachers also enjoyed cultural performances and took part in cultural experience activities. The event was filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
