On September 23, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana hosted the closing ceremony of the bilateral training program on digital development of Guyana’s healthcare sector. Ambassador Yang Yang and Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Cerdel McWatt attended and delivered remarks. Representatives of China Sinopharm International Corporation, Chinese experts, and Guyanese participants, totaling over 70 people, attended the event.

Ambassador Yang congratulated the participants on successfully completing the program, noting that people are at the heart of digital transformation and talent is key. She encouraged the participants to translate learning into action and knowledge into practice, turning what they have learned into greater professional capacity and the outcomes of the training into momentum for development, thereby contributing lasting impetus to Guyana’s healthcare sector and China-Guyana joint efforts of building the “Health Silk Road”.
Dr. Cerdel McWatt thanked China for its longstanding support for the development of Guyana’s health sector, noting that the program had further strengthened China-Guyana friendship. He looked forward to continued exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the health sector.
