On 2 September 2026, H.E. Ambassador Yang Yang and Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health of Guyana jointly attended the handover ceremony of medical supplies donated by the visiting delegation from National Health Commission of the PRC.

Ambassador Yang noted that China-Guyana health cooperation is built on a solid foundation and has delivered tangible results. Chinese government has continued to offer Guyana support in medical supplies, technical exchanges and personnel training. For over 30 years, the Chinese medical teams have remained committed to providing quality medical services to the people of Guyana. Chinese companies have constructed a number of regional hospitals and other health infrastructure, adding on the efforts of building a Healthy Silk Road between two countries. She emphasized that China stands ready to work with the Guyanese side to continue improving people’s wellbeing and bringing bilateral health cooperation to new levels.

Minister Anthony expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding and comprehensive support for Guyana’s health sector. Guyana looks forward to further cooperation with China, so as to make the fruits of the partnership benefit more people in Guyana.
