On August 11, H.E. Ambassador Yang Yang and Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health of Guyana jointly attended the commissioning ceremony of the Health Promotion Center at the Ministry of Health. Representatives from the 21st Chinese Medical Team, AGM Inc., Shandong Hi-Speed Dejian were also present.

Ambassador Yang highlighted that the Center stands as the latest achievement in China-Guyana health cooperation, which has now expanded into the field of public health and health promotion. The Center makes direct contributions to improving the health and well-being of local people, demonstrating China’s determination to work with Guyana to further deepen practical health cooperation and deliver more health benefits to Guyanese people.

Minister Anthony expressed sincere appreciation for China’s generous support and spoke highly of the Center for its significance in raising public health awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles. He encouraged Guyanese people to make full use of the facilities and develop healthy habits through regular exercise.

Funded by the Chinese side, the Center consists of a self-service health corner and a professional fitness area. It provides smart testing devices and rapid test kits for common infectious diseases, as well as offering a range of professional fitness equipment. The Center is open to the public for free.
