Recently, Ambassador Yang Yang visited Lethem, the capital of Guyana’s Region Nine, for a field study and met with members of the local Chinese community. Counsellor Li Hanqing and several young diplomats from the Embassy accompanied the visit.

During the visit, Ambassador Yang held discussions with officials from various municipal departments and representatives of the local chamber of commerce. She was briefed on local economic and social development, urban development and the business environment, and exchanged views with them on further strengthening cooperation in such areas as trade and investment, agriculture, infrastructure and people’s well-being. 

Ambassador Yang also met with representatives of the local Chinese community and extended greetings to frontline employees of Chinese enterprises. She encouraged them to operate in accordance with laws and regulations, fully implement workplace safety responsibilities, and take the initiative to integrate into and contribute to the local community.
