On 17 July, H.E.Ambassador Yang Yang and Hon. Vickram Bharrat, Minister of Natural Resources jointly attended and delivered remarks at the 2026 CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited (CPGL) Scholarship Award Ceremony. 

Ambassador Yang congratulated the four recipients of the 2026 scholarships, noting that skilled professionals are essential to the long-term development of Guyana’s energy sector. He said that the CNOOC Scholarship Programme is a concrete example of Chinese enterprises actively fulfilling their corporate social responsibility and has, over the years, contributed positively to the development of local talent in Guyana.

Minister Bharrat spoke highly of the positive outcomes achieved by the programme and expressed the hope that China and Guyana would further deepen cooperation in education and energy, thereby contributing more to Guyana’s economic and social development.
