From October 29th to 30th, the delegation of Jiangsu Province headed by Vice Governor Mr. Zhao Yan visited Guyana. Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Mrs. Guo Haiyan attended the main activities of the delegation.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on Hon. Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, Vice President of Guyana. Vice President Jagdeo expressed appreciation to China for its long-term assistance especially the China (Jiangsu) Medical teams, and reiterated that Guyana firmly adheres to the One-China Principle. The two sides emphasized willingness to explore opportunities in various fields to strengthen cooperation in personnel exchanges, industries,  education and vocational training.

Vice Governor Mr. Zhao Yan held a talk with Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health of Guyana and witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strengthening the training of health personnel between the Jiangsu Commission of Health and the Ministry of Health of Guyana. The delegation also handed over donation of medical equipment.

An additional contribution of 1,100 Chinese books was donated by the delegtion to the Confucius Corner of the Library of University of Guyana.
