The US has approved a possible $100 million arms sale to Taiwan, Zhao Lijian: China will take legitimate and strong measures

At Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian's Regular Press Conference on February 8, 2022, a reporter from Reuters asked: The US has approved a possible $100 million arms sale to Taiwan. What's China's comment?

Zhao Lijian: The US arms sales to the Taiwan region of China seriously violate the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, especially the August 17 Communiqué, gravely undermine China’s sovereignty and security interests, and severely harm China-US relations and cross-Strait peace and stability. China firmly opposes this and strongly condemns this.

China urges the US to abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués, immediately revoke the arms sales plan, and stop arms sales to and military ties with Taiwan. China will take legitimate and strong measures to resolutely defend its sovereignty and security interests.

Follow-up: Which measures will China take specifically?

Zhao Lijian: Let's wait and see.
