On 11th October, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana and Cheddi Jagan Research Centre co-hosted the Seminar on “Marking Ten Years Since Commencement of the Belt and Road Initiative”. Chinese Ambassador Guo Haiyan, Former President Mr. Donald Ramotar, Former Foreign Minister Mr. Carl Greenidge, Second Vice President of Association of Friendship and Culture with China Mr. Ramesh Persaud, Dean of Confucius Institute at the University of Guyana Mr. Al Creigton made presentation. The Seminar was co-chaired by Chairman of CJRC Mr. Hydar Ally and Amb. Guo, Former Foreign Minister Mr. Clement Rohee did the summation and closing remarks.

  Based on the recently released white paper titled “The Belt and Road Initiative: A Key Pillar of the Global Community of Shared Future”, Ambassador Guo elaborated the background, vision, mission and achievements of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and looked forward to the future of China-LAC and China-Guyana cooperation under the framework of the BRI.
