Chinese Embassy in Guyana Hosts Reception Celebrating the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On October3, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana hosted a reception to celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.

In her remarks, H.E. Ambassador Guo Haiyan noted that Over the past 73 years since the founding of the PRC, especially since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, under the leadership of the CPC, China has achieved a miracle of rapid economic development and long-term social stability, a transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong, and ushered in a bright prospect of achieving national rejuvenation. Taking the joint celebration of the 50th anniversary of China-Guyana diplomatic relations as an opportunity, China-Guyana cooperation in various fields has been further strengthened. She also extended congratulations to Guyana for hosting a successful CPL T20.

On behalf of the Government of Guyana, Hon. Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark AnthonyPhillips warmly congratulated the PRC on its 73rd anniversary and praised the great achievements of Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC. He saidthat China is a strategic development partner in Guyana's development. Guyana-China relations are solid and underpinned by the One-China Policy, friendship and cooperation for mutual benefit. He expressed Guyana's appreciation for China's invaluable support for the country's development and COVID-19 response.Guyana looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with China in areas such as reducing world conflicts, addressing climate change, and promoting economic development.

The reception featured a documentary showing China's economic and social development in the past decade. The Chinese Association of Guyana together with the Confucius Institute at University of Guyanapresented a lion dance, a Chinese traditional costume show, the song "The Moon Represents My Heart" and the chorus "Ode to My Homeland" during the cultural performance.
