On May 17, 2021, Fuzhou City of China's Fujian Province and Georgetown held a virtual meeting to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of their Sister City relationship. H.W. Ubraj Narine, Mayor of Georgetown, Mr. Wu Xiaojie, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Fuzhou Municipal People's Government, Principals of the "Sister Schools" Fuzhou Jinshan School and Marian Academy of Georgetown, and representatives in business sector of both sides have participated in the meeting.

Upon invitation, Mr. Chen Xilai, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, delivered remarks at the online event and expressed his warmest congratulations to the twin cities. "Fuzhou and Georgetown have conducted many in-depth exchanges and pragmatic cooperation in various areas such as education, investment, COVID-19 cooperation, and so on, in the past 15 years. Wish they will better seize the opportunity of the 'Belt and Road' Initiative and contribute more to the traditional friendship between China and Guyana." said Chen.
