Ambassador CUI participated in the China-Caribbean Special Vice-Ministerial Meeting on COVID-19

On Beijing time May 12, 2020, the Special Vice-Ministerial Meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of China and the Caribbean Countries Having Diplomatic Relations With China on COVID-19 was held via videoconference. Ambassador CUI Jianchun, Ms. Charlene Phoenix, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guyana among others participated in the Meeting together at the Ministry.

Mr. Zheng Zeguang, Vice Foreign Minister of China, and Hon. Kenneth Darroux, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations of Dominica, co-chaired the Meeting. High-level representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago also participated in the Meeting.

All parties conducted in-depth communication on the current development of the COVID-19 situation, China-Caribbean cooperation against COVID-19, and to strengthen cooperation in international and regional affairs among other topics. They jointly agreed to intensify efforts in order to deepen their comprehensive cooperation and partnership based on the principles of mutual respect and equality, as well as mutual benefit and common development. They reaffirmed the commitment to promote post-pandemic practical cooperation in various fields to advance China-Caribbean relations.

Following the meeting, all parties issued a Joint Press Communiqué.
