Ambassador Zhang Limin Attended the Spring Festival Dinner of the Chinese Community in Guyana

     The Chinese association in Guyana held a Spring Festival dinner for the local Chinese community on February 2, 2014. H.E. Mr. Zhang Limin, Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, President of Guyana Donald Ramotar, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Speaker of the National Assembly Raphael Trotman, Leader of the Opposition David Granger, Leader of the Alliance For Change Khemraj Ramjattan, representatives of the Chinese companies in Guyana attended the dinner.

 

     Ambassador Zhang extended his Spring Festival greetings to the local Chinese people and highlighted that the year 2013 witnessed great achievements in social and economic fields both in China and Guyana and economic and trade cooperation between two countries have been expanding. He underscored that the Chinese people in Guyana have attained success through hard-working and made important contribution to the local economic and social development. Ambassador Zhang believed that the bilateral friendly relations of cooperation will progress further with the concerted efforts of the two governments and two peoples.

     President Ramotar said that the friendship between China and Guyana dates far back to 160 years ago. The decision to establish diplomatic ties with China over 40 years ago is a far-sighted one. He commended that China’s economic achievement and elevating international status since the reform and opening-up 36 years ago have amazed the world, and enhanced the confidence and hope of Guyana and other third-world countries. President Ramotar gave his assurance that Guyana welcomes China’s investment which is critical to the development of Guyana. He also wished the Chinese people in Guyana a happy and prosperous year of horse.
